The Special Operations Warrior Foundation provides immediate financial assistance to special operations personnel severely wounded in the global war on terror. Once notified of a special operations soldier, airman, sailor or Marine hospitalized with a severe injury, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation immediately sends funds to the service member (or his/her designated recipient) so the family and loved ones can immediately travel to be bedside.
 
To date, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation has provided over $800,000 to wounded special operations personnel.

"At the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, we are extremely thankful for the support provided by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. With the Foundation’s $500,000 grant, we are able to provide immediate funds enabling family members to travel and be at the bedside of their loved one as soon as humanly possible. The expenses involved can be overwhelming for families of the wounded, but thanks to your wonderful generosity we are able to assist deserving families in time of need," said Colonel John T. Carney Jr. (Ret.), president/CEO of Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

The $5-million Florida BRAIVE Fund at Gulf Coast Community Foundation was created to assist military personnel and their families who are serving or have served in Afghanistan and Iraq from a 25-county area in Florida. The fund was established with a gift from the Iraq-Afghanistan Deployment Impact Fund of the California Community Foundation.

"Every dollar that is given through the Florida BRAIVE Fund is a testimony of our appreciation for those who serve our country," said Teri A Hansen, president/CEO of Gulf Coast Community Foundation. "It is our responsibility to support the families of our soldiers. I hope that others will help us sustain this effort by making a financial contribution to the Florida BRAIVE Fund."
