Debbie Argel Rides on Despite Heat
An unexpected hazard cropped up during Debbie Argel-Bastian and husband Todd Bastian's cross country journey honoring their son Derek Argel over the weekend. The brutal Arizona desert heat took a toll on Debbie. After living in the mild climate of Lompoc, California, Debbie found herself suffering from the symptoms of heat exhaustion during their stop in Yuma. “I was beet red and soaked in sweat and nobody else around me was even sweating!” Debbie says.
Although she and Todd were able to make it through the event and head for Branson, Missouri, Debbie's condition forced them to cancel a planned appearance at Branson's famed Baldknobber's Theater where she and Todd were scheduled to receive a proclamation from the mayor of the entertainment mecca.
However, as of Monday morning, Debbie and Todd were back on schedule heading for Columbia, Missouri where they were scheduled to get an escort from another band of motorcycle enthusiasts, the Patriot Guard Riders.
The week includes a fund raising stop in Green Bay before heading on to Milwaukee for the 105th anniversary celebration of the Harley-Davidson company.
Debbie's goal is to raise $105,000 for the Warrior Foundation during the 6 mile trip from Lompoc to Milwaukee and back. For more on the Derek Argel Memorial Ride log on to her webpage at http://firstgiving.com/debbieargel
