A Heartfelt Gift

The Special Operations Warrior Foundation recently received a donation that was heartfelt in simplicity and generosity.  A young man from Southern California decided it was time to find a way to help someone else instead of indulging himself on a very special day.  We are proud to reprint this letter from Jonny.

Dear Mr. Carney,

I think it is so amazing what the Special Operations Warrior Foundation provides for the veterans and their families.  My grandfather, great-grandfather and great uncle served in the Army and have helped me understand the bravery, dedication and honor of soldiers.

For my bar mitzvah (sic) in November, I received almost one thousand dollars as gifts from friends and family.  I would like to donate nine hundred dollars to SOWF.  My check is enclosed.  I believe it is more important for a child to see his injured mother or father, or for a student to get a college education, than for me to use the money to buy a video game or some other useless toy.  I thank you guys so much for providing these brave souls with help for their families.  You are providing love and joy for their families.

Very truly yours,

Jonny
