Whether it's bragging about the prowess of their athletic teams or one upping each other over their relative academic merits, every college seems to have a love/hate relationship (in some cases a lot more "hate” than "love”) with one particular school. The list of great college rivalries is long and distinguished: Florida/Florida State; Ohio State/Michigan; Harvard/Yale.

Virginia and Virginia Tech take a backseat to no one when it comes to the pride its alumni have in their respective universities. Recently, alums from the two schools decided to put their rivalry to work for a good cause in. Some 80 members of the Tampa Bay alumni clubs from Virginia and Virginia Tech descended on Tampa's Pin-A-Rama lanes for a bowling tournament that would establish bragging rights while also raising money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

Organized by the University of Virginia's Captain Kate Westfall (shown presenting the check to SOWF Executive Director Steve McLeary) of nearby MacDill Air Force base the tournament raised $775 while Kate and the rest of her fellow Virginia alums kicked in an extra $50 for falling a few pins short of the Virginia Tech total.

Kate says she hopes this year's tournament will become an annual event.
