J. H. Cohn, one of the country’s largest accounting firms,
held its 19th Annual Charity Golf Invitational, June 21, benefiting
the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
Held at the nationally ranked championship Hollywood Golf Club in Deal,
New Jersey, this year’s tournament raised $75,000 for the SOWF.
The outing, which consisted of 92 golfers, was presented in
part by Capital One. The memorable day
included an exciting closest-to-the pin shoot-off for a $10,000 prize.
During the past four years, J. H. Cohn and Cohn for Kids has
donated $350,000 to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation in support of its
programs that support the families of fallen or wounded special operations
troops.
The SOWF provides college educations to the surviving
children of fallen Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations
personnel. There are currently 135
students enrolled in colleges and universities across the country, and another
500 students who have yet to reach college age. Last year, the SOWF provided
$2.7 million in college scholarship grants, financial aid, and counseling.
"All of us at the
Special Operations Warrior Foundation are deeply appreciative of the support
and generosity of J. H. Cohn,” said John T. Carney, Jr., SOWF President. "We are fortunate to have the steadfast
support of great organizations like J. H. Cohn who agree that the least we can
do is to make sure the sacrifices of our special operations warriors is never
forgotten.”
The SOWF also provides immediate financial assistance to the
families of severely wounded special operations personnel.
"For our severely wounded and injured special operations
personnel, knowing their loved ones can travel to be by their bedside without
financial burden is great relief,” said Carney.
