(New York, NY) -- June 12th:   Military Appreciation Day at Yankee Stadium.    The sun broke through the clouds to allow the Army’s premier parachute team, the Golden Knights, to jump into the stadium during the pre-game activities.  Several Special Forces soldiers who had been wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan were recognized for their service to our country, and the family of Sgt. 1st Class James Ochsner was honored.  A Special Forces Intelligence Sergeant assigned to the 3rd Special Forces Group, SFC Ochsner lost his life in November 2005 while deployed to Afghanistan.  The 18-year Army veteran was in the process of distributing supplies to local nationals when his humvee was struck by an improvised explosive device in a roadside attack.   On the field was his wife, Ann, and her children, Nicholas and Meagan.  Nick is a Mass Communications student at Elon University in North Carolina and Meagan graduated from high school last month.   Gen. Frank Kearney, Deputy Commander, U. S. Special Operations Command threw the official first pitch to get the game started.  Former Ranger  and now country singer, Keni Thomas sang the national anthem.   To see a gallery of beautiful photographs from this spectacular day at Yankee Stadium click here.
