October 26, 2011 - The Tim Davis Memorial March team will complete their 812-mile trek today.

U.S. Air Force marchers left Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX, on Oct. 16. The march, in its third year, is organized in memory of fallen comrades in Special Tactics, as well as their families; and is a fundraiser for the SOWF.

The march is named for Staff Sgt. Timothy Davis of Aberdeen, WA, who was assigned to the 23rd Special Tactics Squadron at Hurlburt Field, FL.

Staff Sgt. Davis, 28, was killed Feb. 20, 2009, near Bagram, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. He is survived by his wife, Meagan, and their son, Tim Jr.

This year, marchers and supporters are honoring the 17 special tactics airmen lost since the start of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Marchers are expected to arrive at 3 p.m. today at Hurlburt Field in Fort Walton Beach, FL. A celebration including the marchers will kick off tonight at 6 p.m. at the Helen Back Cafe on Okaloosa Island. Helen Back is a major supporter of this year's Tim Davis Memorial March.
