Tech. Sgt. David Perez (below, right) is supporting the Special Operations Warrior Foundation by entering and completing some challenging running events - most recently, the Stone Mill 50 Mile Run in Damascus, MD, on Nov. 19.

David, who is stationed at Ft. Meade, about 40 miles southeast of Damascus, finished the Stone Mill race with a time of 12:26. He also did five bonus miles, for a total of 55.

He is a two-time Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom veteran.

"It was a very difficult course with many rolling hills and a few mountains," he said.

"We had 300 ultramarathon athletes sign up and start the race, but only about half finished. I am proud to say I was one of them who continued on," he continued. "I carried the spirits and courage and men and women of the Armed Services on my shoulder, who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom."
